Jenna Hoffmann builds an incredible amount of freedom into her rehearsal room. Drawing on Suzuki and Viewpoints, she demands exquisite and otherworldly energy and form, while also allowing her actors tremendous freedom in building characters and a world together. She builds terrific ensembles, and everyone feels safe and challenged in their work with her!

Working with Jenna Hoffmann is an absolute pleasure. Her strength lays in the development and collaboration of molding a unique ensemble of artistic visions and perspectives into one cohesive piece of art. Her training and technique as a director, anchored in Mary Overlie and Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints, gave me a chance to explore the world to an infinite amount of character possibilities. She is undeniably passionate about her work- but more so about nurturing her actors. I have never felt so comfortable with a director who valued my acting choices and perspective, even when they didn’t work. She creates a laboratory for the actor to make mistakes, even her own, in pursuit of finding how to paint a living artistic portrait. She is always supported by the most talented team of collaborators and I am blessed to have had the opportunity to be guided by her vision.

Working with Jenna was a wonderful experience, and if you are an artist in search of an engaging collaborator then she is the one you want to contact. Jenna is hard-working, dedicated to her craft, and skilled at engaging with an artistic piece in a way that both broadens the piece’s importance and challenges the artists involved to commit more intensely to the world they have created in the rehearsal space. My work with Jenna was not only an enjoyable adventure, but also one that made me a better artist.
